2023 D&D Creator Summit: Update
Wizards of the Coast sent care packages to all virtual attendees of the summit. Here's what was inside.
Background
For the sake of transparency, I documented my experiences as a digital attendee of the 2023 D&D Creator Summit in as much detail as possible. To learn more about the event (and the discourse surrounding it), I recommend starting with the following sources:
My original written recap of the event:
Asians Represent #68, where Nala Wu and I compared our experiences as in-person and digital attendees:
At the end of the event, the WotC (Wizards of the Coast) Creator team informed all digital attendees that we would receive care packages in the mail at an unspecified time. On April 11, I received an email from the Influencer Campaign Manager at Gamesight Inc. (the team that presumably handled the logistics of the event as they were my first point of contact) saying:
We are currently coordinating with our shipping team to get some swag en-route to all our virtual attendees. If for any reason you need to change or add a shipping address, please let our coordinating staff know!
Our teams usually ship via USPS. If you require tracking numbers (especially for international deliveries), please let our team know and we will be happy to request them for you. Please note that for some shipping regions (particularly the EU and UK), tracking accuracy may vary once packages are handed off to your local carrier.
May 17, after no updates, I received a tracking number for the package. Today, I received the package. I did not receive any instructions in the package on if I was required to make "content" about the care package. None of the digital attendees asked for any products to be sent in exchange for attendance or press.
What’s in the box?
I received the following products (I’ve included their prices and product photos from Amazon at the time of writing):
D&D Campaign Case: Terrain ($64.99 USD)
D&D Campaign Case: Creatures ($64.99 USD)
Dragonlance: Shadow of The Dragon Queen Deluxe Edition ($144.99 USD)
Keys from the Golden Vault Alt-Cover ($49.95 USD)
In total, I received $324.92 USD worth of D&D products from WotC. Interestingly, they had previously sent me the Dragonlance: Shadow of The Dragon Queen Deluxe Edition product back in November 2022. Now I have a second one and need to figure out what to do with it.
To reiterate, I do not have an influencer agreement/contract with WotC. Presumably because I worked on Candlekeep Mysteries, I receive the occasional package in the mail from their Creator team. They have always come without the expectation that I make any content about the product or even mention receiving them.
